Boys Will Be Boys

This is not Darth Vader.

This is my nephew. In paintball gear.

The gear was decidedly unnecessary since no one was in actual combat mode. No one, that is, accept Jon who “accidently” threw a paintball at the head of said boy, at a remarkable velocity. Notice how the back of the head is conveniently vulnerable for such “accidental” attacks.

Paintballs are now preferred over BB’s in our house. The paintballs are easier to load, it’s easier to see where you hit your target, and the eco-friendly paint quickly washes away with the first bit of rain or water from a hose. Win, win, win!

The boys blew through the entire box of paintballs in no time, so Jaden decided to go out in the field and look for salvageable ammo. Bad Idea. A muddy field is a deceptive and cunning foe.

It will swallow you one foot at a time when you least expect it. Maybe if I move this way. Or this way.

Nope. Stuck.

Notice the boots stayed.

This will be fun to clean.

These two enjoyed the whole spectacle from afar. It was quite amusing!

The kids (Sawyer included) found the one lone pile of snow left to play in.

Sawyer tried to catch snowballs, but they had a mysterious ability to disappear on impact.

Poor Sawyer, that must be frustrating.

Soon this one will be able to join in the fun.

But for now...he's a mamma's boy. And that's just fine.

Adults Only

Don't worry, this post is PG.

Jon and I got out for an adults only dinner at Ko-Fusion, one of his favorite places in town to eat. It was SO good! (All of the pictures in this post were taken with my old point-and-shoot. Basically because it fits nicely in my purse!)

Hooray for adult beverages and no sippy cups!

We started off with a surprisingly good (and healthy!) seaweed salad and a Flaming Phoenix roll.

The Flaming Phoenix roll. Tempura crab, shrimp, avocado, and mango. YUM! They surround it with gin, sea salt, and lemons and set the whole thing on fire. It's supposed to infuse the lemon juice with the roll somehow...we basically just thought the fire was cool!

This was Jon's Sashimi plate. Pretty...and he loves it, but raw fish is just not my thing.

My Bul Go Gee. Delish.

Everything was so good. We love this place.

P.S. - we also had a delicious chocolate mousse cake for dessert, but I was so busy scarfing it down that I forgot to take a picture. Oops. There was chocolate, there was mousse, and there was cake. Basically, it was awesomeness.

MCP Project 52 - Week 8

Perhaps you are wondering what happened to week 7. Perhaps not. Perhaps I use the word perhaps too much. Perhaps not.

Week 7's theme was "open your heart". I used Sydney's Valentine's day pictures, which I've already posted, so I didn't think it deserved it's own post. You can see them again here if you would like.

On to week 8....this week's theme: The View From Here

My new after work happy hour (and the reason I didn't get any good pics this week.)

A view of my back yard and patio that I am dying to use again. Snow, snow, go away....!

That's all this week folks! I seriously had no time to get my camera out, boo!

Weekend Getaway

Jon was out of town all of last week working at another hospital. We missed him, so we decided to drive down and spend the weekend together. We went up Friday night, ate dinner out, and then spent the evening in the hotel pool. Jon and I enjoyed some wine, pool-side, in paper Dixie cups….classy right?!

Sydney is really starting to enjoy the water. She was splashing, and playing, and all weekend when we would walk by the pool, she would point, and squeal, and want to go in. The only thing that freaked her out a little was when Jon would disappear under the water and then magically reappear in another spot. She didn't really know what to make of it...she would just look SO confused!

Kisses!

Once our wine ran out and the pool started to fill with slash-happy little boys, we headed back to our room, rinsed off in the shower, and played for a little while longer. Sydney was such a trooper, she stayed up until 11pm and wasn’t the least bit grumpy!

We all slept in the next morning, and then enjoyed some coffee and a leisurely hotel breakfast. The hotel had quite the breakfast spread; fruit, hot cereals, cold cereals, yogurt, bagels, pastries, waffles, eggs, sausage, French toast, omelets, juices, milk, coffee, etc., you get the idea...YUM! After breakfast we tried to find a walking trail on the lake, but just got lost, so we went to the park instead.

Sydney loved the swings! Every time we tried to get her down she would get mad, so we just kept swinging!

When we were finally able to pry her away from the swings, we headed over to the Children’s museum. It was great! Sydney was a little bit young for some of the things, but there was still plenty for her to enjoy! We pretty much just let her wander around and explore, while I followed behind her like a mad woman with a camera. **Note to self- next time just set  your camera to auto, if you arent going to remember to check the meter readings. Just sayin.**

Jon was wearing a hat at the museum and whenever ANY  guy wearing a hat would walk buy, regardless of age, race, or stature, Sydney would point and yell “Papa!”. I think people were starting to give me the side-eye! LOL!

Watching the squirrels outside.

These buttons played heart and lung sounds. She pushed them over, and over, and over!

Saturday afternoon consisted of a delicious carb-heavy lunch at La Gondola Spaghetti House, shopping (We got Sydney a new swimming suit. Did you notice she was crammed into last season’s 6-12month suit in the earlier pictures?), and a family nap. We headed down to the pool again that evening and then went out for dinner. It was a late night once again, but Sydney is proving to be quite the party animal!

Well, that's about it from our mini family vacation!

Happy Monday!
