One Month

Lillian is one month old!

(Well, she's actually a little more than a month old now, but this post has been in the works for several days. I get a few sentences typed out and Lillian will start crying, I get a few more sentences down and Sydney needs me to put pants on her naked Barbie doll, one more sentence and someone needs a diaper changed...you get the idea. I used to do most of my blogging and photo editing in the evenings after Sydney was in bed, but that seems to be Lillian's awake time now so that's not working so great anymore. Bear with me while we figure out a new routine around here. In the mean time, blog posts will probably be a little less often than usual.)

One month.

One month as a mother of two. One month of chubby toes. One month of sleepless nights. One month of sisterly love. One month of nursing 'round the clock. One month of double the diapers. One month of sweet baby snuggles and gummy smiles. One month of being a family of four.

I've been doing a lot of hanging out at home with my girls over the last month since I'm not really brave enough to attempt many outings with them both unless Jon is with us.  Sydney was easy to take along when running errands  because she loved being in her carseat carrier. Lillian hates it, so that's made getting out and about a bit more difficult. Luckily the weather has been beautiful so we've been spending a lot of time outside, which helps to keep me from going too stir-crazy.

Motherhood the second time around has been different and the same all at once. The love is the same, but the feelings of anxiety, worry, and being overwhelmed are not. Everything has been much easier this time around just as I had hoped.

Sydney has been adjusting great and hasn't shown any signs of jealousy. She adores her baby sister!

Lillian is healthy and happy. Our little chunky monkey is now 11pounds, 3 ounces, which puts her in the 95th percentile for weight. Hoorah! Her doctor was impressed with her "social" skills (smiling, engaging, etc.) and said that she is acting more like she would expect a two month old to act. I'm going to pin that on the fact that big sister is always in her face. :)

The time is just flying by! I'm really trying to make a conscious effort to slow down and take it all in.

Happy one month Lillian!

  1. She's adorable. . . I really hope I get to meet her this summer or I might cry. Granted, I've met Sydney only twice. I am failing. FAILING!

    Miss you all!
