I asked a question on Facebook a few weeks ago looking for some ideas for making the work-week evenings more purposefully enjoyable, especially during these shorter, colder days. I got some great responses back, many of which revolved around family mealtime and fun ways to involve the kids, and I'm trying to incorporate these when I can.
I've also been slowly working the gym back into my morning schedule. It's hard to get up so early, but I have to say that, once I'm actually up, I've really been enjoying starting my day this way! I have no goals for loosing weight, I just want a strong, healthy body so I can live a long, active life with my family.
Maybe it's time to join in on a photography project again. I haven't done one of those in a while and I miss the creative challenge they give me.
There see, thinking about all of these things makes me feel like I'm climbing out of that rut already! Booya!
In other news, the snow is gone! Fingers crossed that it stays gone for the season. The snow melted to reveal a few exciting surprises: First, apparently some small critters (voles and possibly rabbits?) were really enjoying the protection of the snow-pack. Our lawn is a maze of vole tracks and our garden beds are full of mounds, holes, and tracks. Unfortunately, I'm betting this means that all of the bulbs that we planted last fall are gone. Second, I found a ratty twenty dollar bill in a pile of leaves that we cleaned out of the bushes. Mother Nature must have felt she owed me for surprise number one.
Hooray for the first official day of Spring! If you need me, I will be obsessively watching my flower beds for signs of bulbs that survived the winter critter destruction.
